MA in Missional Leadership
From Sept 2010
The development of an army of Christian Leaders is one of the key contemporary issues in Wales today. CICC is committed to facilitating this in a host of ways and at a variety of levels. At the MA level, there are a number of programmes offered by universities in Wales, and one of them may be suitable for you. One programme that fits in with the evangelical, missional, contemporary and accessible vision of CICC is the distance learning programme run by Springdale College/ Together in Mission team. The Wales centre for the course is based in Cardiff.
The brief outline is set out below, and the brochure can be downloaded, if you are interested in more details.
Springdale College/ Together in Mission’s Leadership Development Course provides practical, affordable, and flexible learning for all church leaders and aspiring leaders. Created by practitioners with hands-on experience of mission in the Western world, the course aims to enable leaders to transform their thinking, their lives and their ways of being church.
Taking seriously your existing Christian experience, the course will help you find new ways of building truly mission-shaped ministries that will profoundly affect your community – a Mission Shaped church for the 21st Century.
At least 10% of the people in most churches are already in some form of leadership. If you are a Church minister, a small group leader, a church planter, clergy, elder, deacon, a member of a PCC or a primary leadership team, a youth leader, an emerging church leader, a leader of a ministry into the local community, this programme will help equip you for leadership in the context of mission.
The normal start date is at the July Summer School, but its modular structure means it is also possible to start at the beginning of the Autumn or Spring terms. The duration of the course is normally 3 years; two years for the taught stage, covering the material in the six modules, and one year completing a research proposal and Dissertation Project on a subject of your own choice related to the themes of the course.
The Wales-based Regional Study Network (RSN) is based in Cardiff, but there are also six other centres in the UK.
For those who want to gain academic accreditation, the course can lead to an MA in Missional Leadership, accredited by Springdale College and York St John University. Students who successfully complete one year of the course (3 modules) will receive a Postgraduate Certificate; students who successfully complete two years of the course (6 modules) will receive a Postgraduate Diploma, whilst those who successfully complete the full two years and the Dissertation will be awarded an MA in Missional Leadership.
What will it cost?
The accredited option costs £1,326 per annum. The not-for-credit option costs £660 per annum for the two facilitated years (assignments not required).
