Gospel Trainee, Hill City Church

For those who feel strongly that they are called to be involved in pioneering gospel ministry, whether as a church planter, member of a planting team, or just generally in evangelistic outreach, we’d love you to consider joining us at Hill City as a Gospel Trainee. What we have to offer is the following:

1. Opportunity to be actively involved in a range of front-line gospel ministries

2. Acts 29 assessment for those who are exploring a call to church planting

3. Training including Porterbrook Learning (see below) and leadership development

4. Exposure to raw gospel community life in a pioneering context

5. Personal mentoring / coaching

This is not an option for the faint-hearted. It would require a commitment of at least a year, and we are unable to offer any financial assistance to those who are up for it. However, we guarantee that it will change your life, as you are challenged, stretched, provoked, equipped and inspired to live all-out on mission for Christ.

As part of this development experience, we encourage you to follower Porterbrook Learning.  This is a basic theological training course suitable for all Christians. It is designed to be accessible and does not require any pervious training or experience; yet remains compelling and challenging even for the theologically trained. The curriculum is made up of 24 modules divide into four ‘streams’: Bible & Doctrine, Character, Church and World.

There are three terms throughout the year and three different workbooks to read. It can take around 5 hours reading per week depending on your reading ability. The flexibility is that you can read the material wherever you want. The workbooks are your portable lectures.

People have read it on the train to work, or while their baby naps, or over a coffee with other people that are reading it close to them or in the same Church. Then ideally the people on the course will all meet up on a weekly / fortnightly basis to go through the material together for accountability and prayer. Once per term there is a gathering together of all of the people on the course for a time of reflection and encouragement with guest speakers and good fellowship.

The cost for the 2012/13 year is £250 for full fee, £125 for a partner of full paying fee and £175 for concessions (student, unemployed, retired). Please do not let money put you off applying for the course. There are two years to the full course but you only have to sign up for the first one. On full completion of the first year, you are then eligible to undertake the second year of study.
